Premier League: Conte waiting for Chelsea to sack him (Dennis Wise)
Former Chelsea captain, Dennis Wise, has said that manager, Antonio Conte is ‘waiting’ to be sacked by the club.
This is despite the impressive 3-2 comeback against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Chelsea were on course for their tenth league defeat of the season after Jan Bednarek followed up Duaan Tadic’s first-half opener at St Mary’s.
But Olivier Giroud came on for Alvaro Morata to give hope for the visitors and Eden Hazard levelled minutes later before the former Arsenal striker settled the affair on 75th minute.
During the break, the Italian took up his position in the dugout before his players had even come out for the second half and Wise felt this was a clear indication that he’s ‘waiting’ to be sacked.
Wise added, “Look at his persona, the way he comes across he looks like the season is done and they haven’t done what they’re supposed to do.
“From a Chelsea person it is sad to see that – I want to see a big smile on his face.
“It seems like he is waiting for the moment [he’s sacked]. He keeps saying ‘I’m trying my best… this is the situation, we try for the fans’ but it’s the same tone.
“It’s the same downness – the disappointing thing is it seems like he’s waiting to be sacked.”
