Alexandre Lacazette wants Arsene Wenger to keep his job
Arsenal were handed a nightmare Europa League semi-final draw yesterday after being paired with Atletico Madrid.
Wenger admitted he wanted to avoid Diego Costa and Co as Arsenal bid to get through the Champions League backdoor.
Winning the trophy is increasingly being seen as the only way the Frenchman will manage to stay on and serve a 23rd year in charge.
France striker said: “It can be the way to keep the manager because he did so much good for the club.
“And it will save our season because in the Premier League we are not doing well. Winning a cup would be good. We want to win trophies.
“Even though it’s not an easy game, we are happy to go into the semi-final. Now we want to go to the final so we have to be careful and be ready.”
Atletico are second in La Liga behind Barcelona and host the second leg on May 3 with Arsenal staging the opening match the week before.
The winners will face Marseille will face Salzburg in Lyon next month.
