USA PRESIDENT "DONALD TRUMP" HOLDS JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE WITH NIGERIAN PRESIDENT WITH BUHARI

WATCH HERE:

Trump holds joint press conference with Nigerian president
President Donald Trump is set to host a joint press conference with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria on Monday afternoon. Buhari's visit to the White House marks Trump's first official visit from an African head of state.

Trump reportedly called African nations "s---hole countries" in January. Weeks ago, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited Nigeria and other African countries – a visit that many saw as an attempt to sooth relations after Trump's alleged comments.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that Trump looks forward to advancing U.S. and Nigeria's shared priorities: promoting economic growth and reforms, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security, and building on Nigeria's role as a democratic leader in the region.

Gooooal! Messi scores in EU court battle to trademark name

BRUSSELS (AFP) -
Lionel Messi, the world's top earning footballer, won a legal battle Thursday to register his name as a trademark to sell sports goods after an EU court ruled that he is too famous to be confused with other businesses.

The Barcelona and Argentina attacker rode out a seven-year challenge by a Spanish cycling gear manufacturer called Massi, which protested that his trademark was too similar to its own.

"Lionel Messi may register his trade mark 'MESSI' for sports equipment and clothing," said a ruling by the General Court of the European Union, the bloc's second-highest court.

"The football player's fame counteracts the visual and phonetic similarities between his trade mark and the trade mark 'MASSI' belonging to a Spanish company," the Luxembourg-based court said.

The ruling comes days after it emerged that Messi has overtaken Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest earner in world football, according to France Football magazine.

The Barcelona attacker is making 126 million euros ($154mn) in salary, bonuses and commercial revenue for the current season while his great Real Madrid rival is making 94mn euros.

Messi first tried in 2011 to trademark his own name with the EU's intellectual property office for use on "sports and gymnastics clothing, equipment and protective equipment and instruments".

The boss of the Massi cycling goods company filed an appeal the same year, saying there was a "likelihood of confusion" with its own trademark.

The trademark office agreed, and dismissed an appeal by the five-time world footballer of the year in 2014.

- 'Public figure' -

But while judges admitted that the trademarks "are very similar phonetically", they said the IPO was wrong to assume that Messi was only known by people who were interested in football or sport.

"Mr Messi is, in fact, a well-known public figure who can be seen on television and who is regularly discussed on television or on the radio," the court said.

"It seems unlikely that an average consumer of those goods will not directly associate, in the vast majority of cases, the term ?Messi? with the name of the famous football player."

It is not the first time that Messi's business interests have ended up in court.

In 2016 a Spanish court sentenced him to 21 months in jail and fined him more than two million euros for tax evasion, although the prison sentence was later commuted to another fine.

He was found guilty of using companies in Belize, Britain, Switzerland and Uruguay to avoid paying 4.1 million euros in taxes on income he earned from his image rights.

While Messi's finances go from strength to strength, despite the Spanish case, he is at risk of missing out on a sixth Ballon d'Or this year.

He has locked down the footballing award in duopoly with Ronaldo for a decade, but Egypt's Liverpool star Mohamed Salah threatens to break their stranglehold after a stunning year.

But Messi's fame keeps soaring -- he has been unveiled as the subject of a painting modelled on Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel on the ceiling of a football club in Buenos Aires.

In it he features as Adam being touched by the "Hand of God" -- belonging to Argentina football legend Diego Maradona.

LATEST;Big Guns To Return: 4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face West Ham United

After a disappointing loss to Newcastle United, Arsenal now have to fight to save their 6th place in the points table, with Sean Dyche’s Burnley breathing down their neck. They welcome West Ham United to Emirates this weekend and cannot allow any complacency to set in late in the campaign. The Hammers are unbeaten in their last three games and are fresh off two draws against Chelsea and Stoke City.

They have not been consistent but have proven hard to beat and will surely test the Gunners in this clash. Arsenal can put a five-point gap between them and Burnley and can get to within three points of Chelsea with a win in this game but they play Atletico Madrid in their Europa League campaign later next week and Wenger might be tempted to rest a few of his key players. Here is the predicted XI Arsenal might field for this tie:

TEAM NEWS:
In early team news, midfielder Santi Cazorla is the only player ruled out for this game against West Ham. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in training but might struggle to make it to the squad while Jack Wilshere will undergo a late fitness test before the game. Aaron Ramsey is fully fit after nursing his shin injury and is expected to start.

EXPECTED LINEUP (4-2-3-1):
Defence:
David Ospina is finally fit but Wenger should stick with Petr Cech under the bar for this crunch clash. Hector Bellerin missed the previous game against The Magpies but should be back in action at right-back while Nacho Monreal should keep his place at left-back.

Shkodran Mustafi has not been at his best recently. He will have to step up his game for this weekend. He should be partnered with Laurent Koscielny, who also missed that game against Newcastle United.

MIDFIELD:
With Wilshere uncertain, Granit Xhaka is likely to start at the heart of the midfield. Aaron Ramsey is back in training and should partner Xhaka against West Ham.

ATTACK:
Wenger played Lacazette and Aubameyang together in that loss but might stick with just one striker for this game. Aubameyang, who is ineligible to play in the Europa League for Arsenal, should lead the attack while Mesut Ozil, who was also rested last weekend, should start in a no.10 role.

Danny Welbeck, who only came on as a sub in that loss to Newcastle, might be played on the left wing, while Alex Iwobi might keep his place on the right flank in attack.

Here is how they might line up:

LATEST:Barcelona join Man United & Tottenham In Race for Championship Star

TEENAGE TALENT
Despite having only turned 17 last May, Sessegnon, an English U19 international, has already established himself as a mainstay in Slaviša Jokanović’s Fulham side.

Sessegnon has long been praised for his abilities both going forward and defensively, and has seen his already impressive production reach new heights this season, after being pushed into a left-sided midfield role from his previous full-back berth.

In fact, so prolific was the teen over the early weeks of 2018, that only Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero had found the net on more occasions (9) than Sessegnon (8) in England’s top 4 divisions by the end of February.

The teen was recently recognised for his sensational exploits at the EFL awards, where, despite his tender years, he was incredibly named as the Championship Player of the Year:

PL bound?
Unsurprisingly, the stellar performances of the Cottagers’ star have not gone unnoticed amongst the giants of the Premier League, with Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool all named as long-term admirers of the talents of Sessegnon.
A report from the Telegraph last month even went as far as to claim that Tottenham had set aside £35 million for a summer move for the teenage prodigy.

Shock Spanish switch?

However, a number of updates over the last couple of weeks have revealed that interest in Sessegnon is not confined to England, with Ligue 1 giants PSG rumoured to have held ‘numerous meetings’ with the representatives of the Fulham standout.
And, as per the aforementioned report from the Daily Mail, yet another of European football’s biggest clubs, in the form of Barcelona, have joined the hunt for Sessegnon, with the Blaugrana said to be considering a big-money summer offer.
Barca are rumoured to be ready to part with current second-choice left-back Lucas Digne at the end of the season, and view Sessegnon, with all of his attacking qualities, as a possible long-term successor to Jordi Alba at the Camp Nou.

Gary Neville Thinks Jose Mourinho Might Know Manchester United's Problem Players

Gary Neville expects Manchester United to make at least three signings in the summer transfer window.

United conceded the Premier League title to Manchester City on Sunday with a limp 1-0 defeat to West Brom which so enraged manager Jose Mourinho he has decided to drop some players from Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham following their weekend displays.

Mourinho omitted Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Marouane Fellaini from the matchday squad again against West Brom and the likelihood is the quartet will leave the club in the summer.

United have shown interest in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, Tottenham central defender Toby Alderweireld, Napoli midfielder Jorginho and Shakhtar Donetsk enforcer Fred as they prepare to reinforce the squad ahead of next season. Neville insists the defence needs 'reshaping' but also feels Mourinho may have identified the problematic players.

"It was a dismal, weak day for Manchester United," Neville said on Monday Night Football. "They started the season trying to rid themselves of last year's problems against the lower teams and these types of performances, but Jose Mourinho at the end of the game referred to attitude and lack of consistency, he's got to rid his team of that.

Premier League: Conte waiting for Chelsea to sack him (Dennis Wise)

Former Chelsea captain, Dennis Wise, has said that manager, Antonio Conte is ‘waiting’ to be sacked by the club.

This is despite the impressive 3-2 comeback against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea were on course for their tenth league defeat of the season after Jan Bednarek followed up Duaan Tadic’s first-half opener at St Mary’s.

But Olivier Giroud came on for Alvaro Morata to give hope for the visitors and Eden Hazard levelled minutes later before the former Arsenal striker settled the affair on 75th minute.

During the break, the Italian took up his position in the dugout before his players had even come out for the second half and Wise felt this was a clear indication that he’s ‘waiting’ to be sacked.

Wise added, “Look at his persona, the way he comes across he looks like the season is done and they haven’t done what they’re supposed to do.

“From a Chelsea person it is sad to see that – I want to see a big smile on his face.
“It seems like he is waiting for the moment [he’s sacked]. He keeps saying ‘I’m trying my best… this is the situation, we try for the fans’ but it’s the same tone.
“It’s the same downness – the disappointing thing is it seems like he’s waiting to be sacked.”

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette wants to win Europa League to save Arsene Wenger's job.

Alexandre Lacazette wants Arsene Wenger to keep his job

Arsenal were handed a nightmare Europa League semi-final draw yesterday after being paired with Atletico Madrid.

Wenger admitted he wanted to avoid Diego Costa and Co as Arsenal bid to get through the Champions League backdoor.

Winning the trophy is increasingly being seen as the only way the Frenchman will manage to stay on and serve a 23rd year in charge.

France striker  said: “It can be the way to keep the manager because he did so much good for the club.
“And it will save our season because in the Premier League we are not doing well. Winning a cup would be good. We want to win trophies.

“Even though it’s not an easy game, we are happy to go into the semi-final. Now we want to go to the final so we have to be careful and be ready.”

Atletico are second in La Liga behind Barcelona and host the second leg on May 3 with Arsenal staging the opening match the week before.

The winners will face Marseille will face Salzburg in Lyon next month.

Match Recap: Leeds leave Villa Park empty handed after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa

While the end result wasn’t a surprise, the way in which Leeds United lost to Aston Villawasn’t as expected. Villa looked dominant in the first half, topped off by a goal scored by Lewis Grabban from a cross from Jack Grealish. That would be all Villa needed to win, as Leeds looked rather poor going forward and, apart from a short stretch of time at the beginning of the second half, were obviously second best the whole match.
Leeds started the match on the back foot, and with a young defence in front of a young keeper, it was to be expected. Leeds did well to put a chance out for a corner in the 11th minute, and Bailey Peacock-Farrell made a good save in the 14th minute on shot from a wide-open Robert Snodgrass.
Peacock-Farrell did well to come off his line to head the ball into touch, but Villa were able to win a free-kick after Pablo Hernandez “fouled” Snodgrass, but the free kick was shot directly into the wall by Snodgrass, and Leeds were able to clear the ball.
Peacock-Farrell was able to bat away another shot/cross in the 23rd minute as Villa continued to put pressure on Leeds. Leeds had a break with Caleb Ekuban running towards goal, but he fell down outside of the Villa box and no foul was given and Villa was back on the attack.
Leeds were made to pay in the 29th minute after Jack Grealish was left alone to cross after Leeds stopped playing, expecting the ball to go out of play. Grealish picked out Lewis Grabban just outside the six-yard box and made no mistake on the header. Matthew Pennington was rooted to the ground and made no attempt to contest the open header.
Leeds continued to play like a League One team against a Premiership club, as the team was unable to string a few passes together in the Villa half while Aston Villa was able to pass the ball around without much trouble.
Halftime came after only one minute of stoppage time. Honestly, only being down by one goal felt like a let-off, as Villa absolutely played Leeds off the pitch. A number of good chances went begging for Villa while Leeds looked extremely poor going forward. Peacock-Farrell was the best Leeds player by a mile during the first half, as most of the rest of the team seemed unable to string a few passes together or even make a decent attempt on goal.
Samu Saiz came on for the ineffective Ekuban at the start of the second half, and his inclusion seemed to pick up the spirits of the team. Leeds won a few corners, and the best chance Leeds had up to this point came in the 50th minute as Phillips had a good shot that had to be cleared off the line by a Villa defender.
Peacock-Farrell made a pair of brilliant saves in the 62nd minute as a Kodjia was unmarked and all alone in front of net. Peacock-Farrell’s play during the match was one of the few positives in this game from a Leeds perspective.
Saiz helped Leeds to almost look like a proper football team in the second half, as the team looked to try and take the game to Villa and get an equalising goal.
Again, Villa were able to break into the Leeds box with relative ease and only the goalkeeping heroics of BPF kept Adomah from scoring a goal. Both Kemar Roofe and Gjanni Alioski were taked off before the 80th minute of the game, as Leeds looked to chase the game, but they were replaced by Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Jay-Roy Grot, so whatever flowing football that was played by Leeds in the minutes after Saiz was introduced was immediately stopped as Lasogga and Grot seemed to kill off the momentum that had been building up by the side.
Pennington stopped a great scoring opportunity in the 84th minute with a brilliant tackle, one of the few times that Pennington looked like a competent defender all game, as he seemed to run down Scott Hogan and made a perfectly timed tackle to strip Hogan of the ball and stop a scoring threat. However, Leeds were still unable to make anything from whatever possession they won , as the passing was often extremely limited and failed to really threaten Villa at all.
Leeds failed to score at all in the last three minutes of stoppage time as Villa looked content to see the match out. It wasn’t the mauling most people expected, but Aston Villa was still able to do enough to put themselves firmly in the playoffs and with an outside chance of catching Fulham for 2nd place and the automatic promotion spot.

LATEST: Pochettino says Kane will learn from goal-gate controversy amid criticism

Mauricio Pochettino defended Harry Kane, who was awarded Tottenham's second goal against Stoke City after successfully appealing.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted Harry Kane will learn a lot from his goal controversy after sparking backlash from rival supporters.

Two-time reigning Golden Boot winner Kane has been criticised after he was awarded Tottenham's second goal from their 2-1 victory over lowly Stoke City in the Premier League last week.
The England international striker appealed to the Premier League after the goal was initially awarded to Spurs team-mate Christian Eriksen, though the decision was overturned by the league's Goal Accreditation Appeals Panel.

Kane's appeal generated criticism online, with Liverpool rival Mohamed Salah – who tops the goalscoring charts by four goals – among those to respond to the contentious decision.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham's clash with champions-elect Manchester City on Saturday, Pochettino said: "Of course, he never thought that this situation would escalate, when he was so certain that he touched the ball.

"After the game Harry said he touched the ball with a shoulder, he told Christian. I think Harry is a very honest person, he's not going to lie about this situation. It's not a big issue for the team.

"It's normal that he was a little bit disappointed [by the response] because Harry and all our players have Twitter, Instagram and all those things and while Tottenham fans will have supported him, fans of other clubs will have killed him.

"People have opinions, but that is normal. He was disappointed because he never wanted to create this. Sometimes it can seem a simple thing, and then it becomes big and you can't stop it. That is what happened here. I think he is going to learn a lot from this you know."

Buffon rages as Ronaldo's late penalty puts Real into semis

LATEST: Highlights And Reaction From Villa Park

Steve Bruce: "We all know that Jack Grealish is a talent. To be without him for six months shows what we have missed. It took him some time to get back to his fitness after his ankle injury against Birmingham City but this was the real Jack Grealish.

"He certainly earned his money against Cardiff. To beat Cardiff it was always going to be a little bit of magic and quality as shown by Grealish. Since he came back into the team he has attempted to play with maturity. The freak injury he suffered in pre-season shocked him. It put him on a back burner but now he is getting the right sort of plaudits."

Neil Warnock: "I don't know why we didn't win. We had some great chances. I know Grealish scored a world class goal but I do not how Villa's goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, was not man of the match. He was unbelievable. One save with his foot was made when he was going the wrong way.

"I cannot fault the lads. It was disappointing to lose two games to two world class goals but luck has a habit of evening itself out. The effort could not be faulted. We created quite a few chances. You could see what it meant to Aston Villa at the end. You would think they had won the World Cup."

BREAKING: Theresa May’s plan to bomb Syria just hit some serious turbulence

Theresa May’s plan to bomb Syria just hit some serious turbulence

Proposals to bomb Syria have hit some serious turbulence. While the prime minister moves towards launching airstrikes, the public sees things differently. By almost two to one, British people oppose bombing Syria, according to a survey by YouGov released on 12 April.

The survey
Dozens of people reportedly died after an alleged chemical weapon attack on the Syrian city of Douma. 43% of people oppose airstrikes on the Syrian military in response, while under a quarter (22%) support the action. 34% don’t know.

But that doesn’t mean people think the Syrian government wasn’t responsible. 61% believe “there probably was an attack carried out using chemical weapons by Syrian government forces or their allies”. Only 5% adhere to the Russian version of events that there probably wasn’t a chemical attack and the claims are “fabrications”. 29% selected “don’t know” and 5% chose “something else happened”.

Still, the public doesn’t appear to think that airstrikes are an appropriate response.

Military action
On 12 April, Theresa May is holding an emergency cabinet meeting. She has warned that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will be “held to account” if his culpability was confirmed.

Under British law, the prime minister doesn’t need to put bombing Syria to a Commons vote. Although that has become customary since Tony Blair asked MPs for approval before the Iraq war. And May is under pressure to do the same.

Sergio Ramos could be banned from Real Madrid's Champions League semi-final after he left the stands during Wednesday's match against Juventus and went pitch-side, close to the tunnel.

Ramos was suspended for the game in Madrid but stood near the touchline for the final few minutes and was involved in an altercation with Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri just before Cristiano Ronaldo's stoppage-time penalty sealed a dramatic win for Real.

His actions are against UEFA regulation Article 15, Misconduct of Players and Officials, section (vii), which says players cannot participate in a match for which they are ineligible.

"Pep Guardiola" Rages About Man United’s Ashley Young

Man City 1 – Liverpool 2
Manchester City’s Champions League dreams went up in smoke on Tuesday night at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool, 3-up from the first leg, fell behind after just two minutes when Gabriel Jesus scored.

But after City failed to add to their tally in the first half, Liverpool turned the scoreline in the second forty-five.

Mo Salah – who else! – levelled for the Reds, before Robero Firmino scored the killer second to seal a 5-1 aggregate win.

Pep Guardiola rages about Man United’s Ashley Young
After the match, Pep Guardiola couldn’t hide his frustrations with the match officials.

Spanish referee Mateu Lahoz sent Guardiola off at the break after the City boss complained about the decision to chalk off Leroy Sane’s goal.

But Guardiola also vented after the game about more decisions in the Liverpool second leg. That included the claim that Raheem Sterling should have won a penalty when fouled by Andrew Robertson.

In packaging his complaints together, Guardiola harked back to last weekend derby defeat to Man United.

City felt they should have had a penalty when Ashley Young took out Sergio Aguero in the box.

After Liverpool, Guardiola took the opportunity to slam ref Martin Aktinson while comparing him to Lahoz:

It’s the same from the last game, against United. Seventy-eight minutes, the most incredible penalty I ever saw in my life, and Martin Atkinson didn’t want to whistle.

Both teams are so, so good, these kind of decisions make the difference. Congratulations to Liverpool but, in the right moment, we missed the right decisions.

I said it [Sane’s effort] was a goal. I didn’t insult him, I was polite, I was correct. But Mateu Lahoz is a special guy, he likes to be different, he likes to be special.

I know what happened in Monaco last season, at 1-1, with an incredible penalty from Sergio Aguero. He’s special. When everybody sees things, he likes to decide the opposite. I didn’t say any wrong word.
